Slovenia’s situated in Central Europe – bordering Austria, Italy, Hungary and Croatia and known as Europe’s Hidden Gem. The country has a rich varierty scenery and it’s size makes it possible to drive from one end of the country to the other in less than 3 hours! The Julian Alps offer some of the best trekking in the world which is why people return back year after year.

Slovenia has marketed itself on it’s own natural beauty, cleanliness and variety. The Julian Alps are Slovenia’s most breathtaking mountain range whilst The Triglav National Park contains a maze of trekking routes and Mount Triglav, the pride of Slovenia – a fantastic trekking experience. The country offers a variety of trails for all ages and abilities with mountain lodges for over nighting. Slovenia offers some of the best via-ferrata and climbing routes in Europe, it’s slowly building up a reputation alongside the Dolomites as an uncrowded place to go for an unforgettable via ferrata experience.
It’s not only walking or trekking that Slovenia has to offer – high quality wine and excellent, food so no visit is complete without discovering the countries’ wine areas and picturesque coast with pretty harbor towns. Town and city lovers are not forgotten the compact but beautiful capital city Ljubljana is a feast for the eyes with a colorful outdoor market, pavement cafes, hill top perched castle and cobbled streets. Ptuj and Skofja Loka are two of the old towns in the country whilst Maribor and the riverside area of Lent are all well worth a visit.
Slovenia has built up an excellent range of cycling trails and routes around the country, road biking, off road mountain biking, bike parks and cycle trails for all abilities. Cycling around Slovenia is a great family affair with routes showing you the most unspoilt parts of the country to enjoy on two wheels.
During the winter months Slovenia hosts some of the top competitions in the skiing and ski jumping cups. The country has a variety of ski areas catering for all abilities and with it’s easy access to Italy and Austria, it’s possible to ski three countries in a week! Snow shoeing, sledging, snow biking, cross country skiing and even dog sledding are all possible and for families Slovenia has a reputation as one of the best family friendly and beginner ski countries in the world.
